This was my first feature story at my first radio job at WKMS. I was so nervous about juggling the equipment and learned after coming back to the studio there’s value in collecting as much nat sound as possible. My favorite piece of sound? The artist turning on the fluorescent lights in his studio. But the master artist’s cough was a close second.

Justin Roberts was a chef with a pretty incredible education. While interviewing him for this story, he told me he dreamed of opening a sustainable retreat where he could cook the food from produce he grew on location and people could sit in chairs he made.
